¿Who is Fauna Salmantina?

My name is Daniel Hernández Alonso, I am a biologist.

I studied a degree in Biology at the University of Salamanca, and a Master in Wildlife and Livestock Management at the Czech University of Life Sciences. I am 24 years old and I like photography and animals, so for a while now I have been using my trips to take pictures of the animals I meet and have the possibility to photograph.

In this page I try to share the photographs of my favourite animals in order to get to know them a little better and respect them in their natural environment.

If you want to know more about me: I am a volunteer at the Wildlife Recovery Centre "Las Dunas", where I did my internship and could be in charge for a short period of time. There, we take care of injured wild animals by doing feeding, cleaning, clinical care and attention, releases among other things. Thanks to this, I have acquired a lot of experience in handling birds of all kinds, from passerines to herons, storks and corvids to large birds of prey. Due to the lower income of mammals, the experience gained in their management has been less, but equally rewarding.

I also like drawing and sculpting, as well as producing informative material that can be of help to people who, like me, love animals.
I collaborate with ornithologists from my city in some campaigns, and without a doubt we enjoy the countryside birding.
Together with Miguel Rodríguez Esteban and other colleagues, we also carry out Dragonflies sampling in the province of Salamanca.

I have worked with amphibians, sampling them during my Bachelor's thesis in Salamanca, being this my favourite animal group. I have also worked with reptiles, conducting surveys in a semi-desert area of southern Namibia in order to collect data for my Master's thesis.

Thanks to all these experiences, field days with birds, odonates, amphibians, reptiles and mammals, and my passion for them, I am who I am.

If you are interested on using any picture, informative material, or if you just have any doubt or suggestion, do not hesitate and send me an e-mail to the adress below.
